I have never known a\ntime when so many people are afraid of almost everything. Today is a day of\nuncertainty. One hears of earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, illnesses, the\ndownfall of the economy, rumors of wars, and so many other things of which to\nbe afraid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why shouldn\u2019t one be afraid? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does God\u2019s Word teach us about fear? We are to remember\nthat God is with us. \u201c<strong>1. God <em>is<\/em> our refuge and strength, a very\npresent help in trouble.&nbsp;2. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth\nbe removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; <\/strong><strong>3. <em>Though<\/em> the waters thereof roar <em>and<\/em>\nbe troubled, <em>though<\/em> the mountains shake with the swelling thereof<\/strong>\u201d\n(Psalm 46:1-3). If we walk with God, He will be with us.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember what Paul wrote to Timothy: \u201c<strong>7.&nbsp;For God hath\nnot given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.&nbsp;8.&nbsp;Be\nnot thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord \u2026<\/strong>\u201d (1 Timothy\n1:7-8a). If one has Jesus in their heart and life, and is walking with Him,\nthat Christian should not be afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there is one thing a Christian is to fear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is that? We are to fear the Lord, doing what His Word\nsays to do. \u201c<strong>Be not wise in thine\nown eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil<\/strong>\u201d (Proverbs 3:7). That\nshould be rather easy \u2013 for if we walk with God, we <strong><em>will<\/em><\/strong> depart\nfrom evil. So that when all of the troubles of the world seem to come against\nus, we can stop and be at rest knowing God is in control. \u201c<strong>Be still, and know that I <em>am<\/em>\nGod: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth<\/strong>\u201d\n(Psalm 46:10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you take time to be still and\nknow that God is with you?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is much fear in the world today.
