\u2018The Israelites sinned against God when they forsook Him\nand worshiped creatures (golden calves, Baal, etc.). They also walked in the\nways of the heathen (the wicked and idolatrous nations around) instead of\nwalking in God\u2019s Laws and statutes they had been taught. Notice that in the New\nTestament, Paul preached to people in the same condition. He warned that the\nwrath of God would fall upon those who knew the truth, but did not live it out in\ntheir lives: \u201c18. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all\nungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;\n19. Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath\nshewed it<\/em> unto them. 21. Because that, when they knew God, they\nglorified him<\/em> not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in\ntheir imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22. Professing\nthemselves to be wise, they became fools, 23. And changed the glory of the\nuncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and\nfourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24. Wherefore God also gave them up to\nuncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own\nbodies between themselves: 25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and\nworshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for\never. Amen<\/strong>\u201d (Romans 1:18\u201319,\n21\u201325).\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notice that Paul portrayed a progressive departure from\nthe truth of righteousness they knew. It was not a sudden departure. Search\nyour heart to see if you are guilty of knowing the way of righteousness, yet\nnot living in the truth of it. This is an important question for each Christian\nto consider!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018What should we learn from Israel\u2019s\nobstinacy? Jesus should be our ultimate example. \u201c21. \u2026 [B]ecause Christ\nalso suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:\n22. Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 24. Who his own self\nbare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should\nlive unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed<\/strong>\u201d (2 Peter 2:21\u201322, 24). \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we know what is right, we should do it. \u201cTherefore\nto him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it<\/em> not, to him it is sin<\/strong>\u201d (James\n4:17). Seek God if one is not sure \u2014\nremember Amos\u2019 plea, \u201cSeek the LORD, and ye shall live \u2026<\/strong>\u201d (Amos 5:6). We\nshould never sin away our lives \u2014 as Israel\ndid. For, \u201c\u2026 There is a sin unto death \u2026<\/strong>\u201d (1 John 5:16).\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you chosen to do good and to seek the Lord? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
