{"id":546,"date":"2019-04-14T18:45:09","date_gmt":"2019-04-14T23:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=546"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:13:59","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:13:59","slug":"lesson-47-proverbs-10-24-wisdom-is-necessary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2019\/04\/14\/lesson-47-proverbs-10-24-wisdom-is-necessary\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 8 (Lesson 47):  Proverbs 10-24:  Wisdom is Necessary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way of a fool <em>is<\/em> right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel <em>is<\/em> wise.\u201d\u00a0 <strong>Proverbs 12:15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Read the Key Verse with your class.\u00a0 Ask your students if they have ever known someone who did something wrong (or just plain stupid) on purpose? (i.e.: eat a worm, jump from the top of something dangerously high, hit someone back, sneak gum in school, copy someone else\u2019s homework, etc.).\u00a0 Did it really hurt them at the time? (Probably not.)\u00a0 That person thought it was OK at the time, \u201cright in their own eyes.\u201d\u00a0 But, just because it seems OK, that doesn\u2019t make it right.\u00a0 We see in this verse that someone like that is called a \u201cfool\u201d (means:\u00a0 <em>silly; perverted; foolish<\/em>) because they are setting a course for their life (way) that is not right according to God\u2019s Word.\u00a0 But, notice that one who \u201chearkeneth\u201d (means:\u00a0 <em>to perceive a message; or hear with attention or obedience<\/em>) to \u201ccounsel\u201d (means:\u00a0 <em>advice or wisdom<\/em>) is \u201cwise\u201d (means:\u00a0 <em>intelligent or clever<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 Today we begin our second lesson in the book of Proverbs.\u00a0 We continue learning the importance of God\u2019s Word by searching Proverbs, the third Personal book for more words of wisdom.\u00a0 Remember that the wisest man, Solomon (whose wisdom was a gift from God \u2013 I Kings 3:12), wrote many of these words.\u00a0 We must learn the importance of practicing the practical portions of the right way to live a life of wisdom that pleases God.\u00a0 We found last week that we must begin to live that way early in life.<\/p>\n<p>Proverbs is a listing comparing wisdom to foolishness, wise to unwise, right and wrong, and even good and evil.\u00a0 Since it appears to have no organized thought pattern, just continual words of wisdom, we will look at some individual comparisons.<\/p>\n<p>As we learned last week, many of the words of wisdom found in Proverbs were written from a loving father as a warning to his only son.\u00a0 These words are important truths to be learned. \u00a0We should encourage our students to not only memorize these pearls of wisdom, but apply these truths to their lives.\u00a0 Remember that these words were written to help us live our daily lives wisely.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>Teach your students the necessity of wisdom.\u00a0 God gave us the words of the Proverbs to help us see the difference between the \u201cfoolish\u201d and the \u201cwise.\u201d\u00a0 Encourage them to learn to be wise, not in the wisdom of the world, but in the wisdom God\u2019s Word teaches us.\u00a0 Help them see the importance of keeping their lives right (living upright and perfect \u2013 as Job, Noah, etc.) before God.\u00a0 Remind them that it begins at home by listening to the wise words of their parents who love them \u2013 just as God loves His people.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lesson-47-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 47 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lesson-47-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 47 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children. Often times I watch Wal-Mart or Oriental Trading Company for specials or deals on things I can use for crafts for Sunday School (i.e. foam sheets, Bible Story scene stickers, crowns, stick on jewels, construction paper, etc.).\u00a0 I keep a stash and when I need something, I go search in my stash!\u00a0 Pinterest always has great ideas!<\/p>\n<p>You could have a coloring sheet that goes with the lesson.<\/p>\n<p><strong>One idea for today\u2019s lesson:<\/strong>\u00a0 (See picture below).\u00a0 For today\u2019s lesson I had journals for them to put together.\u00a0 We put stickers of a castle, a shield with swords, and a crown (since King Solomon wrote Proverbs) on the front.\u00a0 We also put a sticker with a verse (Psalm 86:11) on the front.\u00a0 Inside we glued some preprinted verses from Proverbs.\u00a0 We also took time to write a few more verses from Proverbs as we looked at that book over the next couple of weeks.
