{"id":515,"date":"2019-03-10T18:45:58","date_gmt":"2019-03-10T23:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=515"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:12:23","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:12:23","slug":"lesson-43-psalms-73-89-book-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/10\/lesson-43-psalms-73-89-book-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 4 (Lesson 43):  Psalms 73-89:  Book 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThy way, O God, <em>is<\/em> in the sanctuary: who <em>is so<\/em> great a God as <em>our<\/em> God?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Psalm 77:13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Read the Key Verse with your class.\u00a0 Ask your students if they like to go to church.\u00a0 According to our memory verse, attending church is important to God.\u00a0 That is how we know the way to live a life pleasing to God.\u00a0 Help them understand the word <strong>sanctuary<\/strong>:\u00a0 <em>a sacred place dedicated to the things of God<\/em>.\u00a0 The church today is a place where we gather to focus upon the things of God and to learn of the things of God.\u00a0 There is no one (or any thing) greater to place our focus and attention upon than God, our God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary<\/strong> Today we continue with the second of the Personal Books, Psalms.\u00a0 Remember that the Psalms is broken up into 5 books.\u00a0 We will look at book three of the Psalms (chapters 73-89) today, comparing them to the book of Leviticus.\u00a0 If you remember, the main theme of Leviticus was the tabernacle.\u00a0 That was the tent set up to hold the things of God and where man was to go to meet God.<\/p>\n<p>When the tabernacle was completed, God spoke to Moses from the tabernacle instead of Mount Sinai.\u00a0 Once the people were free from the land of bondage, they needed to know how to live.\u00a0 There was great emphasis placed on the importance of being a sanctified people \u2013 set apart from the world and the things of the world.\u00a0 The people were to learn how to live as a people wholly given to God, in every aspect of their lives.\u00a0 Leviticus showed the ability to have fellowship with God when man came to Him as a sanctified people.\u00a0 (Because He is a Holy God and we are a sinful people.)<\/p>\n<p>The first eleven Psalms of the third book of the Psalms were written by Asaph (he was one of the Levites David appointed to minister before the Ark of the Covenant with songs in I Chronicles 16:4-5.)\u00a0 We see him at one point as he struggled with jealousy over the prosperous wicked, until he went to the \u201csanctuary of God\u201d \u2013 then he understood.<\/p>\n<p>We also reemphasize the importance of learning from history (again), and what happens to those who forsake God.\u00a0 Through this book of the Psalms, we will learn the importance of God\u2019s house, and the importance of serving Him.\u00a0 It ends with a praise encouraging us to make God\u2019s faithfulness known to \u201call generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>We are to learn the importance of not desiring the things of this world, but placing our focus (our heart\u2019s desires) upon the things of God.\u00a0 The one place we can go to achieve this purpose, is the church (the sanctuary \u2013 that place dedicated to the things of God).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Lesson-43-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 43 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Lesson-43-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 43 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children.
