{"id":492,"date":"2019-02-11T07:10:38","date_gmt":"2019-02-11T13:10:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=492"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:10:04","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:10:04","slug":"lesson-39-jesus-in-the-old-testament-jesus-our-ruler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2019\/02\/11\/lesson-39-jesus-in-the-old-testament-jesus-our-ruler\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 13 (Lesson 39):  Jesus in the Old Testament:  Jesus our Ruler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.\u201d <strong>Matthew 6:33<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Read the Key Verse with your class.\u00a0 Explain the memory verse using the following definitions:<\/p>\n<p><strong>seek:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>strive after, with earnestness<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>first:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>importance; first of all; chiefly<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>kingdom:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>the glorious reign of the Messiah; its basis from the prophecies of the OT where the coming of the Messiah and His triumphs are foretold<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>righteousness:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>conformity to all God commands; God\u2019s uprightness to which man is expected to conform<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus taught us to strive, with earnestness and as most importantly, for the coming of the Messiah (Jesus) and his reign.\u00a0 And seek to be able to conform to all of God\u2019s commands.\u00a0 When we can do these things, all of the things Jesus had been teaching them (heavenly treasures, provisions here on earth, etc.) would be added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary: <\/strong>\u00a0We have learned that God\u2019s people rejected Him as their king.\u00a0 They wanted a man.\u00a0 So, God gave them a man, Saul, and he failed miserably as a godly king.\u00a0 But God chose a man \u201cafter his own heart,\u201d David.\u00a0 He was a good king, and God made him a promise.\u00a0 Because David wanted to do good for God to build God a house, God would build David a house, one that would last forever.\u00a0 Today, we will see in whom that promise was fulfilled, Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>David believed God\u2019s promise, and it was recorded in the Bible for us to read today.\u00a0 All through the ages, men watched and waited for that \u201cPromised One\u201d to come.\u00a0 Even the wise men of the Far East sought a new king that was born, and wanted to come and worship him.\u00a0 We find John the Baptist proclaimed He had come, and He was God\u2019s Son.\u00a0 But even more than that, Jesus himself declared principles of His kingdom we must learn to adhere to.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>Our job, today, is to seek God as most important in our lives, obeying His commands, making him our King that we will serve.\u00a0 When we do that, we have nothing to worry about because He will take care of us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Lesson-39-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 39 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Lesson-39-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 39 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children.
