{"id":476,"date":"2019-01-27T20:30:50","date_gmt":"2019-01-28T02:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=476"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:09:23","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:09:23","slug":"lesson-37-ii-samuel-11-24-the-result-of-sin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/27\/lesson-37-ii-samuel-11-24-the-result-of-sin\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 11 (Lesson 37):  II Samuel 11-24: The Result of Sin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cJesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.\u201d\u00a0 <strong>John 8:34<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Read the Key Verse with your class.\u00a0 Ask your students if they know what sin is (<strong>sin<\/strong> means <em>missing the mark; an offence to God<\/em>.)\u00a0 Ask them who has committed sin (all:\u00a0 Romans 3:23.)\u00a0 This verse helps us understand that when we sin, we then <strong><em>serve <\/em><\/strong>sin.\u00a0 When we allow sin into our life, we cannot serve God as we should.\u00a0 Today we will see what happened to David when he sinned against God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 Today we see what can be considered the turning point in David\u2019s kingdom.\u00a0 When he allowed sin into his life, the penalties for that sin damaged his kingdom.\u00a0 We see rape, murder, and rebellion take root in his home.\u00a0 God acknowledged that David had \u201c. . . given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD . . .\u201d (II Samuel 12:14.)\u00a0 The rebellion in his home advanced to his kingdom.\u00a0 David\u2019s own son Absalom, whom he loved, rebelled against not only his father, but his father\u2019s kingdom.\u00a0 David ended up fleeing for his life, and in regaining his kingdom, his son was killed.\u00a0 We see the time spent restoring the kingdom.\u00a0 And once again, we see people recognize God\u2019s promise to send One some day.\u00a0 David\u2019s men recognized this and did not allow him to return into battle for fear \u201cthat thou quench not the light of Israel.\u201d\u00a0 They knew the promise laid in him and his descendants.\u00a0 As David comes toward the end of his reign, we see words of wisdom and even a song of thanksgiving and praise.<\/p>\n<p>David also bought the land that the temple would one day be built upon.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>Once David allowed sin to come into his life, he had much heartache that could have been prevented.\u00a0 We must learn from the examples written within God\u2019s Word, or we will repeat them \u2013 suffering many of the same consequences of those sins.\u00a0 But remember that God is faithful:\u00a0 I Corinthians 10:13:\u00a0 \u201cThere hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God <em>is<\/em> faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear <em>it<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Lesson-37-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 37 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Lesson-37-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 37 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Lesson-37-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet-2.pdf\">Lesson 37 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet 2<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children.
