{"id":454,"date":"2019-01-06T18:23:17","date_gmt":"2019-01-07T00:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=454"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:08:23","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:08:23","slug":"lesson-34-i-samuel-16-31-david-coming-to-the-kingdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/06\/lesson-34-i-samuel-16-31-david-coming-to-the-kingdom\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 8 (Lesson 34):  I Samuel 16-31:  David Coming to the Kingdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen a man&#8217;s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.\u201d\u00a0 <strong>Proverbs 16:7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Read the Key Verse with your students.\u00a0 It is very self explanatory.\u00a0 But be sure that they understand \u2013 God is with those who please Him, and He will take care of His people.\u00a0 We will see this in David\u2019s life as we study our lesson for today.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary<\/strong> After learning of Eli, Samuel, and Saul, we come to the final main character of I Samuel, David.\u00a0 Last week we saw that the people had rejected God as their king and desired a man to rule over them.\u00a0 God gave them Saul &#8211; physically, everything a people could want in a king.\u00a0 He was good looking, and he stood head and shoulders taller than anyone else.\u00a0 But we found he chose to please man over God.\u00a0 Remember Saul\u2019s disobedience that caused God to remove the kingdom not only from him, but his family.\u00a0 Today we see that God chooses a \u201cman after his own heart.\u201d\u00a0 We see God take a man the world might see as one of low esteem (a shepherd boy), but one whom He raised up to serve Him.\u00a0 When God chose David, he removed his spirit from Saul and allowed an \u201cevil spirit\u201d to trouble him.\u00a0 Watch today and notice the conflict between these two men.\u00a0 Notice that even though Saul sought to destroy David, when David walked with God, Saul could not destroy him.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>As we see God turn from Saul (for his disobedience) to David, Saul then became David\u2019s enemy, after him at every turn.\u00a0 We read that David continually sought God, and that even Saul recognized God was with David.\u00a0 When David had opportunity to kill Saul, and would not, Saul promised David peace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Lesson-34-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 34 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Lesson-34-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 34 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Lesson-34-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet-2.pdf\">Lesson 34 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet 2<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children.
