{"id":410,"date":"2018-11-18T20:08:14","date_gmt":"2018-11-19T02:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=410"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:06:10","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:06:10","slug":"lesson-28-joshua-12-24-possessing-the-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2018\/11\/18\/lesson-28-joshua-12-24-possessing-the-land\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 2 (Lesson 28):  Joshua 12-24:  Possessing the Land"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPonder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.\u201d <strong>Proverbs 4:26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Read the Key Verse with your class.\u00a0 Help them understand the word \u201cponder\u201d means \u201cto think about.\u201d\u00a0 They should think about where they go and what they do.\u00a0 We need to be sure we only go the places God would approve of.\u00a0 When we walk with God, He will bless us.\u00a0 That is why it is important to \u201cponder the path of thy feet.\u201d\u00a0 Today, we see instances when God\u2019s people choose to allow God to establish their ways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 Joshua opens with a listing and remembering of the lands and kingdoms conquered.\u00a0 God tells Joshua how the land is to be divided.\u00a0 The land is distributed and the people finally occupy the land (13-24), making it the land of Israel.\u00a0 The people set up the tabernacle in the city of Shiloh (18).<\/p>\n<p>We also see a great conflict today, one that could have caused a civil war among God\u2019s people.\u00a0 We have a great example of a potentially divisive matter being handled in a godly manner, an example we all should heed today.<\/p>\n<p>We close today with a mighty challenge from Joshua:\u00a0 choose this day who you will serve.\u00a0 Joshua constantly reminded the people about God and what God had done for them.\u00a0 He encouraged them to make a commitment, just as God\u2019s people need to do today.\u00a0 We must decide, each individual person, who we will serve.\u00a0 In Joshua, we see God\u2019s people choose to serve God.<\/p>\n<p>Until Joshua and his leading of God\u2019s people into Canaan, they were a nation without a land.\u00a0 At the close of Joshua, they are now a nation with a land mass.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>We must choose for ourselves to obey and serve God.\u00a0 We will then see God bless and establish us as His people.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Lesson-28-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 28 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Lesson-28-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 28 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children.
