{"id":391,"date":"2018-10-28T20:26:06","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T01:26:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=391"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:03:51","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:03:51","slug":"lesson-25-deuteronomy-12-34-planning-the-trip-into-the-promised-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2018\/10\/28\/lesson-25-deuteronomy-12-34-planning-the-trip-into-the-promised-land\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 12 (Lesson 25):  Deuteronomy 12 \u2013 34: Planning the Trip into the Promised Land"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he <em>it is<\/em> that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.\u201d\u00a0 <strong>Deuteronomy 31:6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Read the Key Verse with your class.\u00a0 Remind them that God\u2019s people were preparing to go into the land of Promise to conquer it.\u00a0 They had heard the stories of giants in the land, yet they were getting ready to enter.\u00a0 God wanted to encourage them.\u00a0 He would be with them.\u00a0 They should not be afraid.\u00a0 If God told them to enter the land, He would go with them, and He would not fail them.\u00a0 (<strong>Optional idea: <\/strong>\u00a0Ask them if they have ever been afraid.\u00a0 One time you never have to be afraid is when you do something that God has told you to do.\u00a0 God told His people to go and possess the Promised Land.\u00a0 They probably remember the stories of giants in the land.\u00a0 Plus, these people were not soldiers trained for battle.\u00a0 God wanted to reassure them.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be afraid.\u00a0 God would be with them and He would not fail them, nor would he leave them.\u00a0 God will do the same for us today, if we will walk with Him.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 In our last lesson we saw that Deuteronomy is a book looking back to what God had done for His people (Deuteronomy 1-11.)\u00a0 In this lesson we see the rest of the book is looking forward (Deuteronomy 12-34).<\/p>\n<p>All of Israel gathered together.\u00a0 Moses warned the people not to forget the words of God\u2019s law.\u00a0 Moses laid out before the people the blessings for following God\u2019s law.\u00a0 He then warned them of the curse of God if they failed to obey God\u2019s law.\u00a0 Deuteronomy is a reminding of the law, and the people are brought to the brink of the Promised Land, ready to continue.\u00a0 The constant theme we have been noticing is the importance of obedience to God.\u00a0 He wants obedience from His people \u2013 but He gave them the choice.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua was appointed the new leader (Deuteronomy 31), and Moses died (Deuteronomy 34).<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>God wanted His people to know that He would be with them wherever He led them.\u00a0 The constant theme we have been noticing is the importance of obedience to God.\u00a0 He wants obedience from His people \u2013 but He gave them the choice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lesson-25-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 25 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lesson-25-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 25 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children. Often times I watch Wal-Mart or Oriental Trading Company for specials or deals on things I can use for crafts for Sunday School (i.e. foam sheets, Bible Story scene stickers, crowns, stick on jewels, construction paper, etc.).\u00a0 I keep a stash and when I need something, I go search in my stash!\u00a0 Pinterest always has great ideas!<\/p>\n<p>You could have a coloring sheet that goes with the lesson.<\/p>\n<p>One idea for today\u2019s lesson:\u00a0 (See picture below).\u00a0 For today\u2019s lesson we made a suitcase to travel.\u00a0 We took a center file folder and glued pictures of things that you would pack into a suitcase cut from magazines.\u00a0 Include things like clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, hairbrush, shoes, socks, etc.\u00a0 But especially find a sticker (or a cut out picture) of a Bible.\u00a0 They should understand the importance of reading their Bible everyday \u2013 even on a trip!\u00a0 You could then decorate the outside like a suitcase.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mural idea:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Refer to the wall in your classroom that has become a mural.
