Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.\u201d\u00a0 Deuteronomy 6:5<\/strong><\/p>\n

Go over the memory verse with them.\u00a0 Encourage them understand we are to love God with all of our heart, soul and might.\u00a0 Help them know the way we show God we love Him is to obey Him in every area of our life (see what Jesus said in John 14:15:\u00a0 \u201cIf ye love me, keep my commandments.\u201d).<\/p>\n

Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 What God wanted most from his people was for them to love Him with all of their heart, soul and might.\u00a0 If they would have done that, they would not have had to be constantly reminded to obey God and His laws.\u00a0 They would have shown<\/em><\/strong> their love for him by their remembrance and their obedience.\u00a0 We see in the book of Deuteronomy that God reminds this new generation who He is.\u00a0 He reminds them of the promises and the deliverance he had shown their fathers.\u00a0 He continues by reminding them what he expects from them.\u00a0 And most importantly; they are to teach these things to their children.<\/p>\n

Throughout the entire book, it shows the faithfulness of God and reveals that God loves his people.<\/p>\n

Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n

Emphasis: \u00a0<\/strong>To show God we love Him with all of our heart, soul and might by our obedience to Him and to our parents.<\/p>\n

Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stickers always work well with children. Often times I watch Wal-Mart or Oriental Trading Company for specials or deals on things I can use for crafts for Sunday School (i.e. foam sheets, Bible Story scene stickers, crowns, stick on jewels, construction paper, etc.).\u00a0 I keep a stash and when I need something, I go search in my stash!\u00a0 Pinterest always has great ideas!<\/p>\n

You could have a coloring sheet that goes with the lesson.<\/p>\n

One idea for today\u2019s lesson:\u00a0 (See picture below).\u00a0 Because this is a second giving of The Law to a new generation, we did another Ten Commandments craft.\u00a0 The second Children\u2019s Reinforcement Worksheet has a Ten Commandments picture you could have your class cut out and glue the commandments into the correct order.\u00a0 You could always choose another commandment craft.<\/p>\n

Mural idea:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Refer to the wall in your classroom that has become a mural.\u00a0 Today, have them make their own set of The Ten Commandments to add to your mural.\u00a0 Encourage them to keep each of these commandments.\u00a0 Remember, we show God we love Him by our obedience to Him.\u00a0 And, we are to love Him with all of our heart, soul and might (see today\u2019s Key Verse).<\/p>\n

Have them each add anything else they may have brought to add to the wall.\u00a0 Encourage everyone to participate.<\/p>\n
