{"id":379,"date":"2018-10-15T07:11:24","date_gmt":"2018-10-15T12:11:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=379"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:03:07","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:03:07","slug":"lesson-23-numbers-20-36-the-next-generation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2018\/10\/15\/lesson-23-numbers-20-36-the-next-generation\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 10 (Lesson 23):  Numbers 20 \u2013 36:  The Next Generation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this <em>is<\/em> the whole <em>duty<\/em> of man.\u201d\u00a0 <strong>Ecclesiastes 12:13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ask your students if they can name any of God\u2019s commands.\u00a0 Help them understand that fearing God is not being afraid of Him.\u00a0 It is knowing what he expects of us and then doing it.\u00a0 Help them complete the memory verse worksheet.<\/p>\n<p>Today we see what happened to God\u2019s people when they did not keep God\u2019s commandments.\u00a0 They did not understand what we should today:\u00a0 our whole duty <strong><em>is <\/em><\/strong>to fear God and keep His commands.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 The name numbers comes from two numberings of God\u2019s people in the wilderness.\u00a0 These were two different groups of people.\u00a0 We have been looking at the old generation and continue on to the new generation.\u00a0 Today, we continue with the wandering of the people in the wilderness.\u00a0 We look at the life of Balaam, and we also see what happens to a disobedient people.\u00a0 Moses is told he will die and Joshua will be appointed the new leader.\u00a0 Finally we see the new generation numbered and being prepared to enter the Promised Land.\u00a0 But that promise to enter comes with a warning.<\/p>\n<p>In Numbers, we see God guiding, providing for, protecting, and even disciplining His people until they reach the Promised Land.\u00a0 As they prepare to enter, Joshua is introduced as the successor to Moses (Numbers 27:15-23).<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>The most important thing we can do as Christians is obey God and keep His commandments.\u00a0 That is the fear of God.\u00a0 It is our duty.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lesson-23-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet.pdf\"><strong>Lesson 23 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lesson-23-Volume-1-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 23 &#8211; Volume 1 Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children. Often times I watch Wal-Mart or Oriental Trading Company for specials or deals on things I can use for crafts for Sunday School (i.e. foam sheets, Bible Story scene stickers, crowns, stick on jewels, construction paper, etc.).\u00a0 I keep a stash and when I need something, I go search in my stash!\u00a0 Pinterest always has great ideas!<\/p>\n<p>You could have a coloring sheet that goes with the lesson.<\/p>\n<p><strong>One idea for today\u2019s lesson:\u00a0<\/strong> (See picture below). We took a 5&#215;7 foam sheet and glued the Key Verse (Ecclesiastes 12:13) onto it.\u00a0 We then put a few stickers to remind us of Balaam (and the fact that he should have obeyed God).\u00a0 We had a Bible time\u2019s man, an angel, a donkey and a couple of trees.\u00a0 You could use your imagination to come up with better ones!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mural idea:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Refer to the wall in your classroom that has become a mural.
