{"id":373,"date":"2018-10-07T20:43:24","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T01:43:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=373"},"modified":"2019-08-18T19:02:34","modified_gmt":"2019-08-19T00:02:34","slug":"lesson-22-numbers-1-19-wandering-in-the-wilderness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2018\/10\/07\/lesson-22-numbers-1-19-wandering-in-the-wilderness\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 9 (Lesson 22):  Numbers 1-19:  Wandering in the Wilderness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTake heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.\u201d\u00a0 <strong>Hebrews 3:12<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Read today\u2019s key verse with your class, helping them to understand it.\u00a0 <strong>Take heed<\/strong> means <em>to beware, or pay attention to<\/em>.\u00a0 Christians need to be careful to <strong><em>not <\/em><\/strong>have an evil heart (means any form of evil) that would cause them to quit believing in God or His ways.\u00a0 Today we see where the people \u201cdepart\u201d from the living God.\u00a0 Anytime a Christian chooses his will over God\u2019s, he has departed from God.\u00a0 This verse was a warning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 The name Numbers comes from a numbering of the people at the beginning of the book and then again at the end.\u00a0 These were two different groups of people.\u00a0 Today we look at the old generation, and the many troubles they caused Moses.\u00a0 When the 12 spies were sent into the land (the land promised to Abraham), only Joshua and Caleb brought back a good report claiming God would allow them to conquer the land.\u00a0 When the Israelites disobeyed God\u2019s command to cross over into the Promised Land, they were disciplined.\u00a0 The old generation would wander in the wilderness and die, not entering into the Promised Land \u2014 all because they refused to obey God\u2019s command. \u00a0\u00a0Joshua and Caleb were the only ones allowed to survive and enter the Promised Land.<\/p>\n<p>Within we also find more murmurings of the people and their discipline.\u00a0 Less than 40 years elapsed during the book of Numbers.\u00a0 Throughout Numbers, we will see God guiding, providing for, and protecting His people in spite of their constant heart of unbelief.\u00a0 God stayed with them even when they departed from Him and His Words.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emphasis:\u00a0 <\/strong>Today we will see the children of Israel have a heart of unbelief and depart from the plans the living God had for them.\u00a0 We must believe God\u2019s Word, or we will spend our lives wandering \u2013 just like the children of Israel did in the wilderness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lesson-22-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 22 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lesson-22-Volume-1-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 22 &#8211; Volume 1 Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stickers always work well with children.
