Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am<\/em> the LORD your God …\u201d Exodus 6:7\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

After reading today\u2019s key verse with your class, help them understand it, and the importance of recognizing God in our lives.\u00a0 That He is to be our God and we are to be His people.<\/p>\n

Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 Between Genesis and Exodus, God\u2019s people grew into a nation numbering around 2-3 million people.\u00a0 At least 400 years had passed since they entered into Egypt.\u00a0 We see the mighty deliverance of God\u2019s people from a land of bondage (Egypt).\u00a0 We see the power of God revealed through this time of exodus.\u00a0 As they pass through the Red Sea, that eliminated their return to the land of bondage.\u00a0 The old way of life was left behind forever.<\/p>\n

Emphasize the following<\/strong>:\u00a0 But with all of these events, the most important thing to note is that God revealed Himself to His people.\u00a0 He reminded them that He was their God, and that they were His people (see today\u2019s memory verse.)\u00a0 He showed them that he was their God through the 10 plagues and the mighty deliverance from bondage.<\/p>\n

Encourage your students to bring their Bibles and use them!<\/p>\n

Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stickers always work well with children. Often times I watch Wal-Mart or Oriental Trading Company for specials or deals on things I can use for crafts for Sunday School (i.e. foam sheets, Bible Story scene stickers, crowns, stick on jewels, construction paper, etc.).\u00a0 I keep a stash and when I need something, I go search in my stash!\u00a0 Pinterest always has great ideas!<\/p>\n

You could have a coloring sheet that goes with the lesson.<\/p>\n

One idea for today\u2019s lesson:\u00a0 Make a burning bush with red, yellow, and orange tissue paper.\u00a0 You could find a coloring sheet with Moses and a bush and add the tissue paper squares with glue, or just draw a picture of a bush and add the tissue paper to make it appear as if it were burning.<\/p>\n

Mural idea:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Refer to the wall in your classroom that has become a mural. Today, have them consider God\u2019s provision for His people.\u00a0 Do they realize when we ask Jesus in our heart, we are no longer our own?\u00a0 We belong to God because we have been bought with a price:\u00a0 I Corinthians 6:19-20:\u00a0 \u201c19. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is<\/em> in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.\u201d We can no longer please ourselves.\u00a0 Our job is to please God with every part of our lives.\u00a0 Have them write (on a puzzle piece or construction paper) ways we can live a life pleasing to God.\u00a0 Add these to your mural, as a reminder.<\/p>\n

Have them each add anything else they may have brought to add to the wall.\u00a0 Encourage everyone to participate.<\/p>\n
