{"id":270,"date":"2018-07-23T07:12:20","date_gmt":"2018-07-23T12:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/?p=270"},"modified":"2019-08-18T18:55:58","modified_gmt":"2019-08-18T23:55:58","slug":"lesson-11-three-post-exile-minor-prophets-haggai-malachi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/index.php\/2018\/07\/23\/lesson-11-three-post-exile-minor-prophets-haggai-malachi\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 11:  Three Post-Exile Minor Prophets:   Haggai \u2013 Malachi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.\u201d <strong>Zechariah 1:3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For younger children:<\/strong>\u00a0 Hand out the first worksheet.\u00a0 Help them complete the maze.\u00a0 Review the memory verse with them.\u00a0 Show them that just as they had to choose the right path on their maze, we must choose whether or not we will obey what God\u2019s Word teaches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Youth:\u00a0 <\/strong>Ask the following: What happens when you make a wrong turn in traffic?\u00a0 Can you get lost if you are traveling a new road and take a wrong turn?\u00a0 In life we can\u2019t always see what is ahead.\u00a0 If we make a wrong turn, we need to immediately correct our course.\u00a0 Today we see words of warning and encouragement from the prophets.\u00a0 (Refer to the key verse.) They echo a call from God for the people to return to Him and he will turn to them.\u00a0 Hand out the worksheet to reinforce the memory verse.<\/p>\n<p>In this lesson we look at the last 3 books of prophecy (Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi) are post-exile \u2013 after the people had been carried away captive and have now returned to their homeland.\u00a0 These books take place in history during the time of Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther.\u00a0 Once they returned, they had an important task ahead of them, but they quickly become tired.\u00a0 God sent prophets to tell the people that God should be first and foremost in their lives. These prophets also, once again, reminded the people the importance of fearing God and obeying His commands.\u00a0 They are reminded of the promise that the Messiah is coming, and that God isn\u2019t finished with His people yet.\u00a0 The Old Testament ends with a warning of a curse for those who do not remember the words of the law and the prophets.<\/p>\n<p>Today emphasize that we must choose to turn to God and not the things of the world.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Optional Worksheets to be downloaded:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Lesson-11-Volume-1-Childrens-Worksheet-1.pdf\">Lesson 11 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Worksheet 1<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalpath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Lesson-11-Volume-1-Childrens-Reinforcement-Worksheet.pdf\">Lesson 11 &#8211; Volume 1 Children&#8217;s Reinforcement Worksheet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In any lesson, you may want to work on your coloring timeline \u2013 especially when it relates to the lesson.<\/p>\n<p>Review the 3&#215;5 cards if you made them, practicing the divisions.\u00a0 Focus on putting the Minor Prophets, emphasizing the last three, books in order for today\u2019s lesson.<\/p>\n<p>Another idea for today would be to have blocks for the children to build with in class.\u00a0 Remind them that the people had to rebuild the Temple, their homes and the walls around the city during this time.\u00a0 The Minor Prophets spoke words of encouragement to them.<\/p>\n<p>Display the poster of the books of the Old Testament (may be downloaded from the Lesson 4 Blog).
