Key Verse<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSeek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.\u201d\u00a0 Amos 5:14<\/strong><\/p>\n

The word seek<\/strong> means \u201cto search\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 We must seek good things in this world, not evil.\u00a0 In our lesson today, we find that God\u2019s people had quit seeking good and were continually doing evil.\u00a0 Remember, God spoke to His people through prophets many years ago.\u00a0 God sent his prophets to tell the people to seek God and follow His commands.<\/p>\n

If you think about it, the prophets had a fascinating role in history.\u00a0 God sent His prophets to tell the people to seek God and follow His commands.\u00a0 They were entrusted with God\u2019s Words to be delivered to the people.\u00a0 Exposing the sins of the people and revealing the need for repentance (turning a humble heart back to God), took much courage.\u00a0 Although it was a difficult task, we see faithful men accomplish what God asked of them.\u00a0 Even when the people refused to listen at the time, we see God working to fulfill His plan.\u00a0 As students of the Bible, we should never be afraid to study the words written in the books of prophecy.\u00a0 Remember, the prophets also reminded the people that the Promised One (Jesus) would come.\u00a0 Take note:\u00a0 God knew and chose these men.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that much of the prophets\u2019 message was to \u201cseek good, and not evil.\u201d\u00a0 Seek means \u201cto search\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 We must continue to seek good and learn to always obey God\u2019s commands.<\/p>\n

In any lesson, you may want to work on your coloring timeline \u2013 especially when it relates to the lesson.<\/p>\n

Display the poster of the books of the Old Testament (may be downloaded from lesson 4 blog). Review the books of the Major Prophets (showing them on the poster).\u00a0 You may have them draw a picture of their favorite event from the books of the Major Prophets.\u00a0 Review the 3×5 cards if you made them, practicing the divisions.\u00a0 Focus on putting the books of the Major Prophets in order for today\u2019s lesson.<\/p>\n

Because Daniel\u2019s life is such a popular event in the Bible, you may find some Daniel stickers to work on.\u00a0 Or you may find a coloring picture that fits today\u2019s lesson.\u00a0 There are many free coloring sheets online.\u00a0 Just type in a favorite and search away!<\/p>\n

Mural idea:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

On the wall you have chosen in your classroom to become a huge mural:\u00a0 For this week, have them each choose a Major Prophet.\u00a0 Have them write a few things that they learned that helps identify them from the other prophets. \u00a0Encourage them to include the time God called them to become a spokesman for God.\u00a0 Have them look for opportunities that God places before them (especially this week) to be a voice for God in this world.<\/p>\n

Continue having them bring a picture, a news article, a poem they have written, a picture they may have drawn, etc. of something that is relevant to each of the following week\u2019s lessons.\u00a0 Encourage everyone to participate.\u00a0 Watch as it grows weekly, as they express what God is revealing to them through our study of how the Bible fits into His plan to help us become more like Him.<\/p>\n
