This has been another crazy year. Many things continue to\nfeel uncertain. So much has changed. It is hard to believe that the year 2021\nis almost over. Does it feel like Christmas time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you ever watched A Charlie Brown Christmas<\/em><\/strong>?\nAs it opens, Charlie Brown is declaring to Linus, \u201cI think there must be\nsomething wrong with me. Christmas is coming, but I\u2019m not happy. I don\u2019t feel\nthe way I\u2019m supposed to feel. I just don\u2019t understand Christmas, I guess.\u201d He\nthen continues by telling Linus all of the things he likes about the Christmas\nseason, but that he still isn\u2019t happy. \u201cI always end up feeling depressed,\u201d\ndeclares Charlie Brown. Linus tells Charlie Brown that only he could turn a\nwonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you remember how the show progresses, Charlie Brown is in\ncharge of the Christmas program. He finds that everything he does turns into a\ndisaster. In the midst of it all, he declares that he really doesn\u2019t know what\nChristmas is all about. He then cries out, \u201cIsn\u2019t there anyone who can tell me\nwhat Christmas is all about?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linus steps up declaring that he knows what Christmas is all\nabout. One should remember what Linus quotes to everyone who is there: \u201cAnd\nthere were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch\nover their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,\nand the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore\nafraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you\ngood tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is\nborn this day in the city of <\/strong>David<\/strong>\na Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be<\/em> a sign unto\nyou; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a\nmanger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly\nhost praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth\npeace, good will toward men<\/strong>\u201d (Luke 2:8-14).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most people in the world today seem to forget: What Christmas\nis all about. In the cartoon A Charlie Brown Christmas<\/em><\/strong>, the point\nis made. It is not the giving and receiving of Christmas gifts, the sending of\nChristmas cards, the commercialism that Christmas has become, and not even the\nChristmas programs that people try to make happen. The simplicity of the\nChristmas message is lost on the masses. It is purely what the angels told the\nshepherds in the field that night so long ago: \u201cFor, behold, I bring you\ngood tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is\nborn this day in the city of <\/strong>David<\/strong>\na Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. <\/strong>\u201d The good tiding of great joy\nwas the birth of Jesus, the Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. One must\nunderstand that Christmas is about the greatest gift ever given: Jesus<\/em><\/strong>.\nGod so loved us that He sent His only Son. \u201cFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that\nwhosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life<\/strong>\u201d\n(John 3:16). God revealed<\/em><\/strong>\nHis love for us by sending His only Son to die for our sin<\/em><\/strong>. \u201cBut God commendeth his love toward us, in\nthat, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us<\/strong>\u201d (Romans 5:8).\nThen one must believe that Jesus did die to pay the penalty for our sin. \u201cFor the wages of sin is<\/em> death; but\nthe gift of God is<\/em> eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord<\/strong>\u201d\n(Romans 6:23). He came to die\n(because of our sin), so that we could have life (because we cannot pay the\npenalty for our sin). Whoever will believe in Him, though they were dead in\ntheir sins and trespasses, yet shall he live. (Remember what Jesus declared to\nMartha, \u201cJesus said unto her, I am\nthe resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead,\nyet shall he live<\/strong>\u201d John 11:25.)\nEach person must understand that Christmas is remembering the giving of the\ngreatest gift. God gave His only Son, Jesus. What is one to do with that\nimportant information? \u201c9. That if\nthou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine\nheart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10. For\nwith the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession\nis made unto salvation<\/strong>\u201d (Romans 10:9-10). This message of Jesus is<\/em><\/strong>\nthe tidings of great joy! To all people!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This gift is available to anyone. But this gift must be received<\/em><\/strong>\nby one who would only believe<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
