Through these men, he revealed Himself to His people through\nthe ages in different ways at different times. \u201c<strong>God, who at sundry times<\/strong>\u201d [<em>refers to the incremental and\nprogressive manner in which God disclosed Himself, up until the appearance of\nthe Son. It was fragmentary, piece by piece, like pieces of a puzzle<\/em>] \u201c<strong>and in divers manners<\/strong>\u201d [<em>this\nword is used to qualify the manner in which divine revelation during the Old\nTestament time frame was given. It shows the diverse ways through which God\ndisclosed His Word, such as dreams, visions, and angelic visitation<\/em>] \u201c<strong>spake in time past unto the fathers by the\nprophets.<\/strong>\u201d God called the prophets for a special purpose. One of the\nmost famous disobeyed God. Remember Jonah? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are twelve Minor Prophets. They can be divided into two\ngroups. The first nine were sent to the people before the people were expelled\nfrom the land of Israel.\nInterestingly, we know very little about these prophets. Some were sent to\nJudah (the Southern Kingdom), some to Israel\n(the Northern Kingdom), and some were sent to Gentile\nnations. They were just ordinary men that God chose to use. See a little bit\nabout the first nine minor prophets as they were sent to God\u2019s people before\nthey were carried captive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Joel<\/strong> was a prophet to Judah\nwho told of a plague of locusts.<\/li><li><strong>Micah<\/strong> is known as a prophet\nto both Israel\nand Judah\ncalling for the people to \u201chear.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/li><li><strong>Habakkuk<\/strong> is remembered as\nthe prophet who asked God why \u2013 and God answered him! He learned that he must\nhave faith in God. \u201c<strong>\u2026 but the just shall live by his faith<\/strong>\u201d (Habakkuk 2:4b).<\/li><li><strong>Zephaniah<\/strong> wrote of God\u2019s\njudgment and mercy. His preaching had great influence upon King Josiah, who \u201c<strong>\u2026\ndid that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of\nDavid his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left<\/strong>\u201d\n(2 Chronicles 34:2).<\/li><li><strong>Hosea<\/strong> reveled the love of\nGod, in spite of spiritual adultery. He called for the people to \u201c<strong>Come, and\nlet us return unto the LORD \u2026<\/strong>\u201d (Hosea 6:1b). <\/li><li><strong>Amos<\/strong> is known as a prophet\nfrom the country. He asked, \u201c<strong>Can two walk together, except they be agreed?<\/strong>\u201d\n(Amos 3:3).<\/li><li><strong>Obadiah<\/strong> was written as a\nwarning to those who persecute Israelites. He wrote, \u201c<strong>The pride of thine\nheart had deceived thee \u2026<\/strong>\u201d (Obadiah 1:3a). <\/li><li><strong>Jonah<\/strong> is known as an\nunwilling or reluctant prophet. He will be forever known as the prophet who ran\nfrom God and was swallowed by a great fish (a whale).<\/li><li><strong>Nahum <\/strong>is known as one who\nprophesied the destruction of Nineveh.\nHe wrote, \u201c<strong>The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at\nall acquit the wicked \u2026<\/strong>\u201d (Nahum 1:3a).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The prophets came from all walks of life. God used them where\nthey were or sent them where He needed them. Each of these prophets recognized\nthe sovereignty of God in all areas of life. God had an extra-special job for\nthe prophets. He has an extra-special job for his people today as well \u2013 if we\nwill only obey! Make your time on earth count for God; live for Him daily.\nAllow God to use you. Respond when God calls.
